Tiny monsters round my bed are taunting me Tiny monsters humming tunes incessantly They kick in my walls & rip out pages from my books Sing dark hymns & dance about my room so bravely shouting You'd better run! Tiny monsters sleep in my apartment walls Tiny monsters pick apart my awkward flaws In the afternoons when I get bored they sound their horns Tiny monsters on parade resounding echo chorus Better run They sing ooo Tiny monsters rattling my cage against the moon Tiny monsters disappear just as the dogwoods bloom But if you scared my friends away I’d say I’m quite surprised Doubt that they’ll be gone for long, in fact they’re coming back tonight & we will run

Marry Me 02:02
I’ll get married on a sailboat I’ll get married in a tree I’ll get married in a zeppelin but baby won’t you marry me cause I’ve been working in the shipyards & fellas, they do start to talk so won’t you meet me down the aisle & we can take a little walk marry me (marry me) why won’t you marry me (marry me) I’ll be your honey bee (honey bee)
& I will love you till the day that I die I’ll get married in the springtime I’ll get married in the fall I’ll get married at the plaza or by a judge at city hall I just want a dress of white lace so all the rumors, they will cease so won’t you meet me at the chapel make an honest woman outta me marry me (marry me) why won’t you marry me (marry me) I’ll be your honey bee (honey bee)
& I will love you till the day that I die

I’m strung out on the sea there’s no need here for lullabies these waves, these stars, these skies I just want to sit still I’m hung out on a line I’m drying out my salted skin I’ve mapped a course back in swim away, just leave my girl to sink Will you come with me Will you follow me back home Will you come with me Would you come with me I’m veering off the road into this mountain side I’m carving out a hole to slip away, just hibernate awhile & if I do wake up I’m burning all these maps & lists leaving behind a trail of dirt & ashes & starting again, on foot, a simpler trip Will you come with me Will you follow me back home Will you come with me Would you come with me

sister, hold up the sky you are more than your mother you’re the scholarship prize you are stronger than summer look, the sky has turned white you will be led to water and your eyes will turn brighter to the shame of your father Come down here with me from the storm Clouds began forming years ago We have arms like walls for our bodies We have hearts like fists for our babies
there’s a place we could run to it’s a Midwestern haven there’s a girl that I know who built herself her own basement they ride bikes & not cars they sing praises not hatred they build bridges not bombs in her town she is sacred Come down here with me from the storm Clouds began forming years ago We are vanishing into traffic As the lights spark out & the sky splits wide, hard & heavy mine’s a weatherproof heart I have turned down my volume but the tornado’s starting, sound the radio warning as the bride catches fire we will shroud her in linens bring her down to our shelter call to arms our battallions Come down here with me from the storm Clouds began forming years ago We are vanishing into traffic As the lights spark out & the sky splits wide, hard & heavy

California 04:00
I have walked out to California with the weight of the north pole upon my back I’ve been drunk, trying not to notice all the looks I got out on the tracks & on the way to this promised land I broke my own commandments & now the waves are my reprimand they bend each day towards you now my boots, they are overflowing with the souls of all those that I’ve met makes my gait wobbly & unsteady but with gin I bear the cross of it & on the way to this promised land I broke my own commandments & now the waves are my reprimand they bend each day towards you & some nights you eat the moon & some nights the sky will bloom & swallow you whole (oh no) now I pray since I’ve finally made it I will go back to my old high school prove success as the masses gather loaves & fishes, steel bones, gold & jewels & on the way to this promised land I broke my own commandments & now the waves are my reprimand they bend each day towards you

Toy Boats 01:53
toy boats are just a game my heart is made of paper the sea is made of cellophane and you are just a dream you're just a ghost you're just a sailor's ghost who's been left howling in the eye of the storm you're just a figment you are Atlantis you're just a siren lost up on the rocks you are a shipwreck you are an epic tale of bravery vanquished, shunned out by the sea I am a light house I am the North Star route I am an anchor dug deep in the ground of Lake Michigan
7.
there are moments that end & moments that begin there are times we say goodbye or kiss goodnight and each one is part of the giant book we are writing we are all co-creating this great life & who knows what is planned but the ground that we are standing on will bind us all together in the end & one trick for this walk is to keep one suitcase packed so that you can jump up & say 'it's me' when you hear that voice calling in the night through your dreamings and wake up to follow, blind & faithfully but whichever way you turn there is love the carves a way for you and love you freely gave, it will return let’s grab our friends & launch our ships to the edge of the sea and scream out overboard & each roaring wave will rolling remind us that we’re still in progress and each move we make it will be a prayer and with that power we raise our voices & sing together oh, so brave & heartily because I know if there's a time when my voice is hoarse & broken you will sing out twice as loud, yes you will carry me to heaven yes each one of us is a song of praise I am a song / I am a song / I am a song of praise
8.
it’s been too long since I said thanks since I said I think we’re stuck with one another or written you a simple note folded in a paper boat sorry if I forgot for someone who is good with words I think I’ve exhausted my vocabulary cause all I see is morning light shining in between the blinds this is when I feel alive I just want your time / I just want your time it’s true that friends do disappear but I have faith in something greater, like each other and I’ll try not to let you down & you will keep me on the ground laughing hard and singing loud & god’s either in every little thing or god’s in nothing at all and I’m not talking about core beliefs just the fact that I can feel so small while I’m driving through this mountainside alone & then I start to think of how far we’ve come when I think of you life doesn’t seem so dumb the road’s not just a metaphor in fact I think it might be my own little corner & you get that I need to explore take these songs from shore to shore but baby you’re the greatest tour I just want your time

funeral song dirge of the ocean little dead bird out on the rocks sweep me along under the current things could be different if I could run -- ooh which is yourr fear shipwrecks or sailing being forgotten once you have lost me well stranded or not, I will not be landlocked you’re bound to your hillside down to the marrow now cast me out, unravel bleed dry in my honor vessels will all eventually crumble hollow as a drum nothing to kill still you are hunting ghosts in old buildings sea glass & snailshells your treasures are filled with all of the glory, blessings & rapture etched into headstones cast me out, unravel bleed dry in my honor vessels will all eventually crumble hollow as a drum

Guilt 03:52
are you happy do you miss me do you love her or are you settling have you prayed real hard have you played that song are you sorry like I'm sorry gone baby gone do you believe in coincidence do you just call it fate was it all timing were you just one day too late have you hailed Mary under the freeway do you cling to your rosary while you try to fall asleep and I do confess that you shook me so but I will kill you, ghost and I will save my soul have you sung your penance have you thought about it do you think about it are you over it are you over it like I'm over it do you miss me could you be happy oh will you ever be happy oh are you happy yet

Will 02:33
when I am dead & gone don’t put me in the ground wrap me in cloth & clay paint me the colors of Easter sing me a radio poem one that you learned aloud from your grandfather’s voice before he died in his sleep make the sweetest sound that you can think of sing the sweetest song that you can muster I only trust you far as I can throw you still I would like you to hear my last testament I have not kept much I lived quite simply but please see that on his grave you place the rings from my left hand then make the sweetest sound that you can think of sing the sweetest song that you’ve ever heard it is not hard nothing is hard
